Camp Erin Toronto

Where Children and Teens Learn to Grieve and Heal

ABOUT:

Camp Erin Toronto is a free, weekend bereavement camp for youth who are grieving the death of a significant person in their lives. Children and teens ages 6 to 17 attend a weekend camp experience that combines grief education and emotional support with fun, traditional camp activities. Led by bereavement professionals and caring volunteers, campers are provided a safe environment to explore their grief, learn essential coping skills, and make friends with peers who are also grieving. Camp Erin provides a unique opportunity for youth to increase levels of hope, enhance self esteem and learn they are not alone.

CAMP ERIN’S HISTORY IN TORONTO:

In the past, Camp Erin was a core program of the Dr. Jay Children’s Grief Centre, a charitable children’s grief centre located in Toronto. The first Camp Erin Toronto took place in 2009 and was the first Camp Erin in Canada. In May of 2020, Dr. Jay Children’s Grief Centre closed, but the Camp Erin Toronto community knew that the work of helping children and teens heal from grief was far from finished.

Gilda’s Toronto is excited to have been selected as the new host for Camp Erin Toronto. Gilda’s and the Camp Erin Toronto team look forward to continuing the legacy and traditions of Camp Erin Toronto.
